The Northern Neck Rideshare Program

RIDESHARE DOCUMENTS

2008 Regional Transportation Survey

Summary

To better gauge Northern Neck residents' views on the region's transportation options, the Rideshare Program conducted a detailed online transportation survey from October 2007 to February 2008.

Highlights

A general analysis of the results indicates that public transit options---particularly those that offer regularly scheduled services and inter-region services---are of great interest to residents of the Northern Neck. Requests for road improvements on Route 3 and others also stand out, as do speed-limit enforcement concerns.

Dependence on personal transportation in the region is clearly evident, with 46% of respondents indicating that their households lease or own three or more vehicles (and not a single participating household without a vehicle).
